KT 08.004 Yellow ochre

An exceptional yellow that keeps its glow in shadowed spaces.

Referenz - Le Corbusier, paint sample Maison Blanche, 1912

Farbfunktion - dynamic

Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions

One of the rooms facing west in a villa built by Le Corbusier has walls painted with this color. It is made with ochre, umber and an inorganic yellow. These pigments contribute a significant share of gray to the formulation. The gray lends it depth and fullness even when it is used on shadowed surfaces. The yellow is surrounded by KT 11.092 French chariot blue, KT 32.000 White light, KT 32.141 Medium native umber, and KT 32.013 Pearl gray. These cooler colors additionally lend a warming effect to Yellow ochre, and the overall color composition resembles a beautiful landscape.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
