Groundbreaking technical innovations and new industrial production methods led to the breakthrough of modernism. New coloristic possibilities arose, opening the door to the temptation of using excessive color. The use of reserved colors made with traditional pigments bans this omnipresent temptation. Lightened natural earth shades such as this one may be unspectacular, but they are always tasteful, both indoors and on facades. The modernists used this shade more often than one might think by looking at the black-and-white photographs.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
