The moon may be gray, but it seems to be luminous and bright. Goethe wrote of its “misty ray,” capturing its bright and subtle qualities. This enchanting effect is the result of countless shadows cast by craters on the moon’s surface. Our eyes do not see the shadows individually; we experience a light, soft surface as an overall result. The color Moon gray evokes this effect when used on a wall. Invisibly small particles of the pigments shale, ultramarine ash and marble cast minute shadows, lending the wall a softness that is infinitely appealing.
