As gray as granite and as gentle as velvet.
Referenz - Le Corbusier, Salubra wallpaper, 1931
Farbfunktion - differentiation
Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions
The reference this dark gray color is based on was the darkest shade found in the Salubra wallpaper collection designed by Le Corbusier in 1931. By using familiar colors based on natural pigments such as this one, he succeeded in letting what at the time was considered alienating and new in his architecture look softer and more familiar. Iron gray is highly effective as a muted and harmonious camouflage color. The even more effective camouflage color black would have been too intense for the small rooms of that period.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
