A colorful black, notable for the lucid green that infuses it.

Farbfunktion - materialization
Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions
In seventeenth-century painting, darkness as the source that gives presence to light experienced a renaissance. In 1646, Jesuit pastor Athanasius Kircher wrote that obscuritas, umbra and umbratio (obscurity, the shadow and darkness) should not be understood as the lack of light, but rather as independent, positive qualities. Green black 85 illustrates this nicely. Blending velvety ivory black with the green pigment most stable in the shadows – ultramarine green – leads to this color, which is as fascinating in well-lit spaces as it is under dim lighting.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
