The elegant white of the aristocrats’ mansions in Zurich.
Referenz - Limestone from the river Sihl
Farbfunktion - atmospheric
Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions
Before industrialization, local limestone and ochre deposits informed the color schemes of nearby architectural projects. Glacial limestone sediments from the Sihl River once supplied the inhabitants of Zurich with a beautiful white pigment with lightly colored mineral inclusions specific to the region. However, this pigment was no longer purified once synthetic white pigments were introduced in the twentieth century. But the return to local color cultures is rewarding, since paint colors look particularly delightful in the region from which they stem.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
