KT 43.10 Ultramarine blue 1959

A masculine shade of ultramarine blue to match the style of béton-brut.

Referenz - Le Corbusier, Salubra wallpaper, 1959

Farbfunktion - dynamic

Wirksamkeit - best in the shadows

The fascination with ultramarine blue is universal: Yves Klein and André Heller have been mentioned, but Le Corbusier also held the pigment in high esteem. This shade was found in the Unité d’Habitation in Marseilles, where one side of each recessed balcony was painted with one of six highly saturated colors. The balance of the overall composition was maintained by applying the colors in pairs, and each such blue surface was offset by one nearby in a sunny yellow. KT 43.1 Bright red was balanced by KT 43.2 Ivory white, and KT 43.7 Bright green by KT 43.4 Burnt Sienna.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
