KT 16.005 Mountain blue

A matt mixture of blue and gray, as trustworthy as a longstanding companion.

Referenz - KT 13.023 Dark turquoise blue lightened

Farbfunktion - materialization

Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions

Many paintings completed by Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904 are dominated by dense, blue colors made with inorganic pigments such as this one. The melancholy effect these works convey is caused in part by their typically monochromatic backgrounds. If warm white shades, ochres, oranges, or light-to-medium shades of burnt umber are used in the same color scheme as Mountain blue, the mood lightens to one that is subdued yet comfortable. This blue is tangible in space. It imparts surfaces with a dignified sense of presence.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
